MILLERSTON BEEF SHORTHORNS
Female Lines
Great emphasis is placed on cow families at Millerston as this where we believe the strength of breeding comes from.
There are 4 main families at Millerston:

Irania
This family originated at Balmyle by Bill Bruce under the careful stewardship of Friar Thompson.
The Iranias tend to be medium framed, efficient cows.
Alvie Elton, Millerston Fullthrottle (Champion Bulls at Stirling Oct'13 and Feb'14) and Irania Fizz (Reserve Female Champion at Stirling Oct'13 and pictured) are all from this family.

Gretta
Again, started at Balmyle, the Grettas have proved a sound investment for Millerston.
Bulls such as Burns Supper and Cyclone and heifers like Gretta Freya (pictured) are a testement to this.

Augusta
Bought at the Calrossie Dispersal, this family served the McGillverrays well for nearly 90 years.
One of our favourites was Millerston Augusta Moonshine, who produced a calf every year until she was 16 years old.
Some of her calves include Augustas (stock bull at Wavendon), Diamond (sold to C. Graham for 8000gns) and Embassy (sold to a large commercial operation).

Madeline
This family was developed at Calrossie by late Donald McGillvary.
In recent years Pode Hole have had great success with this line: 2 Highland Show Champions, 2 Great Yorkshire Show Champions and winning calf shows.
Pode Hole Beefeater (sold for 14,00gns) and Pode Hole Drummer (13,000gns) have come from this line.
At Millerston, Fine Ideal from this family sold for 10,500 at Stirling in Feb'14.
